Hope Community Outreach began in 2023 when two neighbors (Robert Long and Joe Stroman) began discussing Rob's desire to do more for God in a practical way. As they prayed about it, the idea to began passing out hot meals to the homeless was developed. A few weeks later, two of them went downtown with just 50 meals to begin the work. Since then the core team has grown to several couples and individuals who regularly assist with meal packaging and distribution. The number of weekly meals has grown to 125 or more. In addition to meals, clothes, shoes, blankets, and personal hygiene products are also distributed when available.

Advocates estimate Jacksonville has about 3,400 homeless people, but only 1,100 or so emergency shelter beds.
There are many people living on the streets with no where to go.
The number of unsheltered people increased by 43% in 2024 compared with 2023, according to Changing Homelessness, a nonprofit organization that supports efforts to end homelessness in Duval, Clay and Nassau counties.
We realize there are various reasons people end up homeless:
(a hard financial turn, mental illness, addiction, domestic violence, or even choice).
We help. We don't judge.
